PBS is a leader in biodegradable plastic materials and has a wide range of uses. It can be used in packaging, tableware, cosmetic bottles and pharmaceutical bottles, disposable medical supplies, agricultural films, pesticides and chemical fertilizer sustained-release materials, and biomedical polymer materials. PBS has excellent comprehensive performance, reasonable cost performance, and has good application and promotion prospects.

Compared with other bio-degradable plastics, PBS has excellent mechanical properties, close to PP and ABS plastics; good heat resistance, heat distortion temperature close to 100 °C, modified use temperature close to 100 °C, can be used to prepare hot and cold drink packaging and meals The box overcomes the disadvantages of low heat-resistant temperature of other biodegradable plastics; the processing performance is very good, and various types of molding processing can be performed on the existing general-purpose plastic processing equipment, and it is the best degradable plastic processing performance at the same time, and a large amount can be blended at the same time Calcium carbonate, starch and other fillers, to obtain low-cost products; PBS production can be slightly modified through the existing general-purpose polyester production equipment, the current domestic polyester equipment, a serious excess capacity, transform the production of PBS to provide excess polyester equipment New uses. In addition, PBS only degrades under specific microbial conditions such as compost and water, and it is very stable during normal storage and use.

PBS uses aliphatic dibasic acids and glycols as the main raw materials. It can not only meet the needs of petrochemical products, but also can pass through the fermentation of natural renewable crop products such as cellulose, dairy byproducts, glucose, fructose, and lactose. By way of production, we can achieve green cycle production from nature and return to nature. In addition, the use of raw materials produced by the biological fermentation process can also significantly reduce the cost of raw materials, thereby further reducing the cost of PBS.

China will build the world's largest PRS industry chain

At the end of 2005, it was reported from the National Engineering Research Center for Engineering Plastics of the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that the world's largest polybutylene succinate (PBS) production line will be produced in China with an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons. This indicates that China's biodegradable plastics industry will create a new era of large-scale industrialization.

The National Engineering Research Center for Engineering Plastics of the Institute of Physics and Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Hanjiang Jiamei Polymer Materials Co., Ltd. of Yangzhou City jointly formed Yangjiang Haojiang Grace Polymer Materials Co., Ltd. and invested 50 million yuan to build a 20,000 tons/year PBS production line. At present, there are international companies such as Japan Showa Polymer and Eastman USA that have carried out industrialized production of PBS, with an annual production scale of 5,000 tons and 15,000 tons respectively. The scale of polymer quality PBS production line built in Minjiang, Yangzhou, Jiangsu is the largest in the world.

According to Dr. Ji Junhui, chief engineer of the National Engineering Research Center for Engineering Plastics of the Institute of Physics and Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, PBS has unique advantages in degradable plastics in terms of thermal properties, processability, and cost performance. The project was listed in the Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2002 and received national attention. In 2005, it was included in the National Medium- and Long-Term Scientific and Technological Planning Guide. It was listed as one of the key research topics for environmental friendly materials and became a national level biodegradation that focused on industrialization. Plastics have won industrialization opportunities and become the leader in the industrialization of domestic biodegradable plastics.

The construction of the PBS production plant laid the foundation for the development and application of biodegradable plastic products in China, and related technologies have also attracted widespread attention from the industry. At the same time, the plastic products industry also attaches great importance to this achievement and actively cooperates. Shanghai Shenhua Group, Fujian Hengan Group and other companies have opened up the application and promotion of PBS in disposable packaging products, hygiene products, and tableware. Currently, Shanghai Shenhua Group's PBS products are already on the market, and modified materials and extruded sheets have been exported to South Korea in small quantities. It is reported that Shanghai Shenhua Group has signed a long-term purchase contract with Yangzhou Haojiang Grace Polymer Materials Co., Ltd., thus forming a complete industrial chain of resin, modification, and products.
